Rain Gutter Catch Basin

A rainstorm can bring many problems with it, including excess water in your yard. Installing a drainage system can be a big project, but a key process you don’t want to overlook is how to connect a rain gutter catch basin to your pipelines. G&G Concrete & Construction Inc can help you with the following steps to complete your project.

1. Attach the Adapter

You have three main components when it comes to rain gutter catch basin installation: the basin itself, the pipes and the adapter that connects the two together. Before you begin laying your ducts into the trenches you’ve dug, attach this adapter to the basin. Though most can accommodate several sizes, make sure you consider the width of your pipes when buying this piece.

2. Install Pipe Network

With the adapter firmly in place on the basin, set the pipes into the trenches. Selecting the right material is key because there are several to choose from:

    • PVC
    • Corrugated
    • Cast Iron

For most yard drainage options, PVC or corrugated is the best choice. The latter is ideal for small projects, making it the likely option for your project. Once your pipes are in place, it’s time to complete the connection.

3. Connect Pipes to Adapter

The end of your pipe should be close enough to the adapter that it will simply snap into place. Because adapters are meant to fit a wide range of pipes, you may not immediately get the snug fit you need. To strengthen the connection, you can use a silicone sealant to bind the pipe to the adapter. A more secure bond will help to prevent leaks.
